El bogotano del Orica BikeExchange, se impuso en el trazado Bologna – San Luca, cuyo recorrido es de 213 kilómetro y se cumple en un día. Esteban Chaves, de 26 años, ratifica su gran momento, después de ser tercero en la reciente Vuelta a España y subcampeón del Giro de Italia. El francés Romain Bardet fue segundo y Rigoberto Urán tercero. El Giro dell’Emilia hace parte del UCI Europe Tour, y se corre en Italia desde 1909.
